More Thai BL Series to Watch

Hereโ€™s a part 2 of my Must Watch Thai BL Series list.

After compiling a list of BL shows I’ve seen since February 2023, let’s just say I’ve watched more. Here is a rundown of the shows I’ve watched thus far, along with my thoughts on each.

UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN (2019)

This is the story of two star-crossed lovers, Intouch (Earth Katsamonnat) and Korn (Kao Noppakao), whose love story ended tragically. Despite this, they were reincarnated and their love continued with Pharm (Fluke Natouch) and Dean (Ohm Thitiwat). Both would have dreams and recollections of Intouch and Korn, which drew them together. This series also included a side narrative with Win (Boun Noppanut) and Team (Prem Warut). This was a well-written series with a first episode that caught me off-guard. The story is a little slow, but it makes up for it with its plot. Despite the fact that there are numerous narratives being conveyed, everything is interwoven without confusing the audience.

BETWEEN US (2022)

A spin-off from Until We Meet Again focusing on Win (Boun Noppanut), the swimming club’s vice-president, and Team (Prem Warut), a club member with a past. Win suffers with family troubles and the fact that he is such an empath that he does not prioritize his own needs. Team is struggling with a history that is making it difficult for him to sleep at night due to repeated nightmares. Their love story unfolds gradually as they come to terms with the fact that they care so much for each other. This is one of my favorite BL series, and BounPrem, one of my favorite Thai actors to the point that I will be attending their fan meet here in Manila.

MY ONLY 12% (2022)

A charming coming-of-age drama featuring Earth Katsamonnat as Seeiw and Santa Pongsapak as Cake. Seeiw and Cake are neighbors who grew up together since their families are similarly close. They did everything together and were completely reliant on one another. Cake’s father eventually received a job offer that required them to relocate to the United States for a few years. In the absence of Cake, Seeiw was able to do things on his own. Cake and Seeiw had both matured and changed by the time Cake and his family returned to Thailand. They attempted to pick up where they left off in their friendship until they both discovered that their feelings for each other are more than just friendship. I love the dynamics of SantaEarth, I love seeing them together. This series made me cry because of a plot twist towards the end and how the characters, particularly Earthโ€™s character, reacted to the scenario. I highly recommend this series to everyone.

EVEN SUN (2022)

Sun, played by Prem Warut, is a mediocre debt collector. He has more difficulties collecting payment from people than his co-debt collectors. One day, his boss requested him to go to an island owned by Athit, played by Boun Noppanut, to request payment for a debt, only to discover that Athit is someone he shouldn’t be nagging for anything. I would not have watched this series if it hadn’t been for BounPrem and the setting. The plot is rather poor. But, if you’re a fan of BounPrem like myself, I think it’s still worth checking out.

CUTIE PIE (2022)

Cutie Pie is an excellent example of a series with a questionable premise but is nevertheless entertaining. It starred, among others, NuNew Chawarin, Zee Pruk, Nat Natassit, and Max Kornthas. Kuea, played by NuNew, has been arranged to marry Lian, played by Zee, since they were children. Kuea has been holding secrets from Lian, such as his alter persona as a musician and the college course he’s taking, because Lian could dismiss him if he finds out. Kuea has a friend named Khondiao, who is in a relationship with Yi, who is played by Nat. Personally, I believe that both of the relationships depicted in this series are toxic since the older men were quite controlling of their partners. But, once again, the series is interesting if you’re not thinking about wanting to be in the same kind of relationship, because hey! Please, no! I really like the way NuNew sings. I’ve been watching videos of his covers on YouTube ever since I saw him perform in this series. Cutie Pie 2 You was launched this year, presumably due to the success of the first installment. The narrative continues as Kuea has already graduated and is arranging his wedding with Lian when he is informed that he has been invited to be a trainee in Korea.

NOT ME (2021)

In this series, Gun Attaphan portrayed the twins Black and White. Black is a member of a motorcycle gang that is in conflict with a prominent man in Thailand. Black went into a coma, and his twin brother White was determined to discover who was to blame for his brother’s situation. His plan was to befriend his brother’s gang by pretending to be Black. Here’s a story about how minorities attempt to rebel and expose abuses committed by someone in power. It’s also a love story between some of the characters, particularly White and Off Jumpol’s character Sean, and Yok (First Kanaphan) and Dan (Fluke Gawin). This was the second action-packed Thai BL series I saw after KinnPorsche, and I really like it. It’s not like the other overly romantic and fluffy series I’ve seen recently.

I TOLD SUNSET ABOUT YOU (2020)

I eventually decided to give this series a try after seeing it while browsing on Netflix. I don’t know why I waited so long to view this masterpiece; it’s a fantastic series, easily one of my favorites. I Told You About You stars Billkin Putthipong as Teh and PP Krit as Oh-aew, who were buddies turned rivals from Phuket. They belong to the same group of friends, and their relationship evolved into something more after some time. What made me fall in love with this series was the cinematography, which matched the stunning setting. The series inspired me to want to visit Phuket one day. The rapport between Billkin and PP was also excellent, making them one of my favorite Thai BL duos.

I PROMISED YOU THE MOON (2021)

The story of Teh (Billkin Putthipong) and Oh-aew (PP Kit) continues here. They traveled from Phuket to Bangkok to study. Both were studying Communication Arts, but at different schools. They were finding it difficult to spend time together because they were both so preoccupied with their studies. Teh got involved with theater, but Oh-aew changed his course, which disappointed Teh. Teh’s closeness to his drama club senior, Jai, portrayed by Oab Oabnithi, put his relationship with Oh-aew to the test. I Promised You the Moon had more conflict than I Told Sunset About You. Both characters’ struggles were relatable; after all, it does happen. Teh was a little difficult to be fond of, as he was not as mindful of Oh-aew’s feelings and what he was going through. Nonetheless, I like this series as much as ITSAY.

BED FRIEND (2023)

Uea (James Supamongkon) and King (Net Siraphop) are coworkers. King is a well-known lady’s man, and Uea despises his guts. But they soon agreed to become more than simply colleagues. They became friends with benefits that everyone at their workplace was unaware of. There are plenty of passionate encounters between NetJames, but this series is more than just its title. James’ character comes from a dysfunctional family and has experienced abuse in the course of his life. I like the balance of showing their connection as bed buddies and the more serious plot of the series. This is the first series I’ve seen starring NetJames, and I’d want to see them again in future projects.

BAD BUDDY (2021)

Pran (Nanon Korapat) and Pat (Ohm Pawat) had been neighbors and rivals since they were children, and it didn’t help that their parents didn’t get along either. Even their peers don’t get along and have started roughhousing each other whenever they cross paths. But since they grew up, Pran and Pat have been covertly gotten along and visiting each other’s condos because they reside across each other. They’ve been keeping their meetings and growing connection hidden from everyone for the sake of their own reputation and to avoid upsetting their families and friends. How long can they keep it in? Watch the show. OhmNanon’s tandem is adorable; it’s unfortunate that I’ve recently seen posts of them being cold with each other, but this series was still enjoyable to watch. There is a side subplot involving their parents, but it isn’t so prominent that it disrupts the series’ overall plot.

THEORY OF LOVE (2019)

This is another OffGun-headed series in which Gun Atthapan plays Third, a film major who is pals with Two (White Nawat), Bone (Mike Chinnarat), and Khai (Off Jumpol). Third is secretly in love with the player Khai, who has been a lousy friend to him. When Third resolved to attempt to avoid having continued feelings for Khai, Khai began to fall for Third. The series made me feel awful for Gun’s character at first because of the unrequited love from a friend and being a bit of a martyr since he wanted to retain the friendship. But I persisted with it because I had a sense it would end nicely, because it’s an OffGun series, and it has to end good. I couldn’t take Off seriously as a player because I’d been watching too much OffGun Fun Night, where he’s always such a funny guy. He was more effective as a tough guy in Not Me than as a ladies’ man. Mike Chinnarat, one of my favorite supporting actors, is here, which made me like the series even more.

DARK BLUE KISS (2019)

Pete, who is portrayed by New Thitipoom, is romantically involved with Kao, who is played by Tay Tawan. Because Kao hasn’t told his mother that he is gay, they have kept his relationship a secret from her. Kao tutor students, one of which is his mother’s boss’ son Non (AJ Chayapol), who had a run-in with Pete and has a crush on Kao, which irritates and enrages Pete. According to what I’ve read, this is already a prequel to Kiss Me and Kiss Me Again, which are series that I haven’t seen yet. I enjoy watching TayNew and I think they are one of the most attractive and engaging on-screen Thai couples out there.

ENCHANTร‰ (2022)

Theo (Book Kasidet) immigrated to France as a child but returned to Thailand after his grandma died. He reconnected with Ak (Force Jiratchapong), a childhood buddy and neighbor. They also became friends at university. While waiting for Ak in the library, Theo grabbed a book and began writing on it. When he returned to the library and picked up the same book, he noticed that someone had responded to his message, and out of curiosity, Theo and Ak organized a search for this mystery writer. Four students stepped forward, each claiming to be the person Theo and Ak were seeking. This is the first series that introduced me to ForceBook, and I’ve been wanting to watch all of their work since. They’re both gorgeous and have a wonderful rapport. Enchantรฉ was an interesting series, not one of my faves but still enjoyable.

MY SCHOOL PRESIDENT (2022)

Gun, played by Fourth Nattawat, is the head of the music club and the front man of the school band Chinzhilla. There is a possibility that the club will be closed down because it’s not really giving any recognition to the school. Tinn, played by Gemini Norawit, steps in as school president and has a secret crush on Gun, so much so that he will do anything to save Gun’s club. The band ultimately decides to participate in the Hot Wave Music Contest, knowing that if they were successful, it would allow them to keep having their club. This was a very entertaining series overall. The occasional banter between Gun and Tinn wer hilarious. Additionally, the OST was good.

A BOSS AND A BABE (2023)

Cher is a student and gamer who interned at a gaming company where one of his friends and teammate works. Gun, the company’s CEO, finds Cher’s antics and ASMR channel amusing. He began pursuing Cher, and they covertly spent time together. Until Gun’s mother discovered the relationship and requested Cher to keep away from her son. Can they both keep their distance? Cher is played by Book Kasidet, and Gun is played by Force Jiratchapong. Even though the plot was a little questionable, with the boss having ties with the intern, I regarded this series to be sweet because of Cher’s behavior and Gun’s pursuit of him. I also find the other supporting characters amusing, particularly Aoi, Cher’s coworker.
