As of the middle of last year, when I first started watching Thai BL series, finding and watching quality Y-series has become somewhat of my ritual before going to bed. They’re my own personal lullaby. I discovered I Told Sunset About You and I Promised You the Moon on Netflix, and they quickly became two of my favorite Y-series that I’ve ever seen. Everything about these coming-of-age dramas was lovely. All from the cinematography to the stories, acting, and actors.

Series stars Billkin Putthipong and PP Krit have evident chemistry. They’ve known each other since they were in school together, and their closeness and comfortability off-screen translate to what they project on-screen. I just became an instant fan. That’s why, when I heard they were coming here for their first ever fan meet, I knew I had to go. The event took place at the World Trade Center on September 10, 2023. I tried not to expect too much, as I had with previous fan meets. Going to these kinds of events is not the same as going to concerts, where if you are a fan of the performer or band, you will know the songs that they will sing. However, talents on stage at a fan meeting are unpredictable to any particular situation based on the program. What I know about Billkin and PP is that they are both talented vocalists, and that we will all be treated to excellent performances both together and individually. That is exactly what transpired.

First, upon entering the venue, I was taken aback by how small it was and how close I was to the stage. I began conversing with my seatmates, who were equally ecstatic as I was. I remember this fun, firecracker of a person named Karl Zarate, who I later found out is a wonderful singer and entrepreneur (he colors and blings out mics). After a short delay, Billkin and PP took the stage and began the event with “Skyline,” a song from the I Told Sunset About You OST. I loved seeing Billkin and PP perform “Safe Zone,” “A Beautiful Ride,” “Mr. Everything,” “Hesitate,” “I Like Us,” “Fire Boy,” and “Freaking Special,” but the highlight for me was when Zack Tabudlo finally sang “Give Me Your Forever” live for the first time with Billkin, and it was also the first time they met in person. A remix of the song was released last year with Billkin performing some of the parts. Billkin and PP also interacted with fans by answering their questions and even playing games with some of them, displaying a level of fan service that left everyone there feeling satisfied.

It’s certainly one of the best fan meetings I’ve ever been to. I was amazed by Billkin and PP’s talent and how engaging they were with their Filipino Penguins. I wouldn’t mind seeing them again when they come back.
