About Me

Hi! I’m Denise Mallabo.
I’m a writer, editor, and proud mum to my dog, Noodle. My ultimate dream job? Traveling the world and writing about it.
I’ve spent over a decade in the publishing industry, starting my career as an Editorial Assistant for PULP Magazine and MTV Ink, where I stayed for four years. I then moved on to BURN Magazine under Hinge Inquirer Publications for another two years. After six years as an EA, I was given the opportunity to take on bigger roles—first as Managing Editor of UNO Magazine, where I stayed for three years, followed by two years as Managing Editor for the Creative Solutions Department of Summit Media, and another three years as Managing Editor for STATUS Magazine.
In 2017, I made the leap into freelancing after realizing I wanted the freedom to write for different companies, brands, people, and publications—focusing on profiling, lifestyle, and entertainment. Around the same time, I partnered with a friend to start Happy Consultants Manila, a two-woman consultancy that helps brands find their voice. We offer 360-degree campaigns, publicity, media and KOL relations, and event mounting.
I also have hands-on experience in event organizing, having helped mount gigs and concerts during my time at PULP and BURN.
When I’m not writing, I’m usually playing the guitar, binge-watching TV series, or cooking—dreaming of opening my own karinderia someday.
Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to look around!
