It’s safe to say that anarchy was absent during the night that celebrated footwear and clothing brand DR. MARTENS had its media launch for its latest collaboration. The UK-based brand recently presented its latest collection of shoes in the Philippines, that features emblazoned lyrics from the song “Pretty Vacant” written and produced by UK punk rock icons the Sex Pistols. The collection includes the 1490 10-eye boot, 1460 8-eye boot, and the 1925 steel toe.
the 1925 Sex Pistols is a punchy take on the classic 3-eye shoe. Featuring a bulbous toe silhouette, the monochromatic shoes also bear a cutout which reveals a fashion steel toe cap.the 1460 Sex Pistols No Future is this monochromatic 8-eye men’s boot that features song lyrics on its back strap as a tribute to Jamie Reid’s album artwork.the 1490 Sex Pistols is a striking variation of the classic 1490. Emblazoned with song lyrics, this 10-eye boot is a graphic black-and-white tribute to Jamie Reid’s found-letter aesthetic which he popularized with the iconic typography he used for Never Mind the Bollocks.the 8-eye 1460 Sex Pistols Vicious boots is emblazoned with a digitized print of the band’s wildly infamous bass player: Sid Vicious.
The event was held at Saguijo Bar and Café, one of the places that I used to frequent and one of the go-to bars to watch your favorite local acts. The Dr. Martens x Sex Pistols collab media launch was hosted by musician Raymund Marasigan and everyone was treated with a performance by Grace Note and Chicosci. Here’s what happened in pictures.
