Not everyone is as happy as you on Valentine’s day. Some are still nursing a love lost and some are just still too angry at their cheating exes. But whatever the cause may be for your relationship not to work, one thing is for sure, there’s pain there in all shape or form. There’s nothing like a good cry to ease that pain. And there’s nothing more therapeutic also than cranking up the volume to that angry break-up song so you can belt it in your shower. Here’s to those who are still pissed off from being betrayed—feel it in a few but make sure to come back stronger. In no particular order, here are 10 tunes written for your fuming, broken heart.
YOU OUGHTA KNOW – ALANIS MORISSETTE
It was a slap in the face/How quickly I was replaced/And are you thinking of me when you fuck her?
You can never sing this song calm. It’s as if Alanis wrote this just a few hours after her relationship ended. The rage in this song is perfect for you who is still at that level of furious that’s difficult to contain. Go lang, girl. Isigaw mo yan! AND I’M HERE! TO REMIND YOOOOAAAAHHH!!!
UGLY GIRL – FLEMING AND JOHN
Ha ha ha, the joke’s on me/I feel jealous and I feel mean/Is she so nice that it makes up for her face there’s no way
Okay. This is just being plain mean…funny, but mean. But can you help it though if you’re way cuter than who he replaced you with?
SINCE YOU’VE BEEN GONE – KELLY CLARKSON
But since you been gone/I can breathe for the first time/I’m so moving on/Yeah, yeah
You’re done with walking on eggshells that when it all ended, it’s such a breath of fresh air. Ang gaan gaan lang sa feeling di ba?
NEW RULES, IDGAF, DON’T START NOW – DUA LIPA
Though it took some time to survive you/I’m better on the other side
I had a bit of a run in with Dua Lipa a few years ago and I thought I wouldn’t be able to forgive her but her releasing songs like “New Rules,” “IDGAF,” and “Don’t Start Now,” made me say “okay na, quits na tayo.” She feels me, bumabawi sha sa mga kanta nya.
FUCK YOU – CEELO GREEN
I pity the fool that falls in love with you/(Oh shit she’s a gold digger)/Well/(Just thought you should know n*gga)
When your relationship didn’t work because she’s a material girl, trust me, that’s better off. No one wants to have a scrub in their lives. Honestly, money is an integral thing and whoever says it’s not is a hypocrite but your relationship shouldn’t revolve around it.
KUNG AYAW MO NA SA AKIN – SUGARFREE
Kung ayaw mo na ako/Leche, lalong ayoko sa ‘yo
This song is from one of my favorite OPM bands, Sugarfree, that produced songs that could make a grown woman cry in a bar while drinking her 2nd San Mig Light. They’re known to write “tangina, yan, yaaaan ang gusto kong sabihin” songs about heartaches but this tune in particular has a different spin to their usual laslas pulso songs about love. This is more “bahala ka na dyan” which is really fun and very entertaining.
IRREPLACEABLE – BEYONCE
I won’t lose a wink of sleep/’Cause the truth of the matter/Is replacing you is so easy
Anything and anyone are irreplaceable, especially your lying and cheating ex… mos def!
GOOD AS HELL – LIZZO
Listen, if he don’t love you anymore/Then walk your fine ass out the door
There’s no point in trying to make it work if your partner is not making any effort. The best thing to do is to brush your shoulder off and move on with life. This song by Lizzo tells you how your overall outlook in life should be after that ending. Go pick yourself up and look good as hell. Ganda ka!
TAKE A BOW – RIHANNA
Don’t tell me you’re sorry ’cause you’re not/Baby when I know you’re only sorry you got caught
Sarcasm at its finest. Riri blasting a cheating ex; mocking his ugly crying is gold!
SMILE – LILY ALLEN
At worst I feel bad for a while/But then I just smile/I go ahead and smile
A typical broken-hearted woman that really got affected by everything, got help from her support system, and ended up eventually being okay. Again, breaking your heart or ending a relationship will never be easy but sooner or later you just have to heal, for your own sake.
To you who is hurting right now, it’s okay, allow yourself to feel that pain. It will reach a point that you’ll get tired of feeling angry and hurt, so pick yourself up and move on with life. Our time is too short to wallow in sadness, allow yourself to find your happy again.
